Who We are

Welcome to the NY Cycling League!

The New York Cycling League (NYCL) is a youth mountain bike league offering programming throughout New York State for students in 5th grade, middle school, and high school. Founded in 2012, NYCL supports the development of local teams and provides education, training, licensing, and insurance for coaches and volunteers.

Through high-quality mountain bike events and races, we create opportunities for student-athletes to ride, compete, and grow in a positive environment that values participation, camaraderie, good sportsmanship, and well-being over winning. Long story short? We’re a safe, inclusive, fun community for kids on bikes.

As of 2026, NY has expanded into two conferences!

Our Mission

Get More Kids on Bikes

The mission to “Get More Kids on Bikes” aims to introduce and engage youth in mountain biking by creating accessible, inclusive programs that promote physical fitness, personal growth, and a love of the outdoors among student-athletes. We seek to build a community of young cyclists who are empowered, confident, and enthusiastic, fostering a lifelong passion for the sport.

Fun. Inclusivity. Equity. Respect. Community.

What is NICA?

The National Interscholastic Cycling Association is a leader in the youth mountain biking movement. With leagues across the country, NICA is transforming the way kids experience youth sports, using mountain bikes as a tool to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities. There are no tryouts, there’s no bench: everyone rides, and everyone has a place in NICA.

The New York Interscholastic Cycling League is a proud project of NICA.
